Today I have a post all written about how I hacked my Ikea kitchen island by wrapping it in bead board and trim. But I ran into a problem with the photographs. As in: when I took them I realized how nicked, scraped, and chewed up (by the former puppy) the island has gotten. Close up pictures are not a friend to the island. So I’ll be sanding, caulking, and painting a bit before that post comes out. How can you stand the WAIT? The suspense is killing us all.
Instead of a riveting tutorial, I have an announcement to make and a favor to ask! Please?
First the announcement-
I’ve entered my girls’ room in a competition! Remember the girls’ room and the big “double-high, double-wide day bed” that I built for them last summer? Remember how once I finished the room I sorta dropped off the blogging wagon for a few months? I never did get around to telling you more details about the bed or how I made it. I had intentions of working my way around the house (we are in the kitchen now, right?) and getting to that room eventually, but when a DIY Blogging Competition was announced I quickly wrote up a page about the bed and entered it in Creating with the Stars over at the East Coast Creative Blog.
Even though we are still touring the kitchen, I don’t want to hold anything exciting back from you guys. Do you want to see the details? I’m going to direct you to the post in a round-about way…
This is where the favor comes in:
First: Go to East Coast Creative’s Creating with the Star‘s page. Then scroll way down to the linky tool. My entry is #8 and called “Double High Double Wide Day Bed with Planked Wall”. Click that entry. Then click a few more times! Every time you click it, you are casting a vote for me to be chosen as one of 12 bloggers to compete in Creating with the Stars. Eleven bloggers will be chosen based off of their project’s own merit and the 12th blogger will be chosen by the number of “clicks” their entry gets.
I really hope I get chosen. I am really scared to get chosen. It would be a lot of work!! But I have some big ideas for possible projects. It could be fun!
REPEAT: Go here. Click entry #8. That will bring your BACK here to this blog and the post about the bed.
THANKS, TEAM! See you tomorrow!
p.s. When my baby brother was about 4 years old you he used to yell to us from the bathroom, “If you love me, come wipe my bottom!!!” I promise to never ask you a favor like that. Nor will I ask you to let me come over to your house and demonstrate some really great knives/make-up/pots that I’m selling. (“These knives will change your life!”) But if you love me, gimme a couple cute clicks. I love you right back!

I clicked last week and I will click again :)
Fact: it was Jordan who used to say that from the bathroom, not me…
Voted!!!
